Underwriting Operations Analyst

Zurich Canada is currently looking for an Underwriting Operations Analyst in our Toronto to work closely with our underwriting teams to support the growth of our Managing General Agents and Programs Administrators portfolios, regularly interact with our distribution partners, and deliver exceptional service to customers.

Zurich follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week of in-person presence, which may include time in the office or market-facing engagements.
What you will do
- Collaborate effectively with underwriters, distribution partners, reinsurers, and other internal and external stakeholders to manage the end-to-end workflow.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of quotes/ proposals, policy documents, endorsements, as well as policy wordings formatting.
- Support new business and renewal submission management.
- Provide effective technical and administrative support to the underwriting (UW) team by retrieving and scrubbing information relevant to the UW function (including data inputs into the rating tools, preparing and/or reviewing loss runs, etc.).
- Cleanse bordereaux (BDX). Ensure that BDX processing and booking are performed in a timely manner and work across functions to address any issues or delays.
- Prepare Master BDX* to support reinsurance renewal.
- Pre-underwrite, evaluate risk, and assesses completeness of the underwriting package before the underwriter’s review (for Offer & Acceptance programs). Communicate directly with distribution partners to collect account and insured information necessary for risk analysis.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders for policy number requests to support claims management.
- Help coordinate any loss prevention inspections or related activities.

Coordinate the preparation of Accumulation files and Loss Runs.

Maintain accurate and timely records into internal systems and tools (e.g., CRM, Policy Admin. System(s), etc.)

Support the accrual process as well as the resolution of Billing Service Inquiries and Reinsurance Service Enquiries.

Play a pivotal role in resolving and preventing operational issues including coordinating between distribution partners, internal stakeholders, and the offshore team to maximize customer and distribution partner experience.

Adhere to operational best practices to minimize and mitigate risks.
Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table
Required:
• Bachelors degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance industry, either in Underwriting, Operations, Analytics or Market Facing area.
OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance industry, either in Underwriting, Operations or Market Facing area.
OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance industry, either in Underwriting, Operations, Analytics or Market Facing area.
AND
• Prior experience in the insurance industry is a pre-requisite
• Experience with data collection and analysis
• Experience with processing, rating and policy management systems used in the insurance industry.
• Customer service experience
• Problem solving experience
• Experience servicing product portfolios for multiple lines of business for insurance.
• Microsoft Office experience with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
